It’s a question we get all the time. And just like birth, each childbirth education curriculum is different. Some of the classes out there are vague and have little information about the things you need to know. The uncertainty about the necessity of childbirth education comes from the idea that all classes are vague and not worth the time.
A well taught, comprehensive childbirth class will teach you much more than how to time contractions and what a mucous plug looks like. In our Hello Baby! Childbirth class, we dive into all the things. We teach nutrition, birth planning, anatomy & physiology of labor and birth, stages of labor, comfort techniques, common interventions, variations of labor, pain management tools and options, placenta, postpartum recovery (even that intimidating first poop), sexual wellness (prenatally and in the postpartum), newborn care, breastfeeding, and so much more.
We said no to the typical monotone class with the hee-hoo breathing lessons and created something fresh, fun, and filled with actual information that you’ll be able to understand.
Our bodies have the ability to labor and birth a baby, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t prepare. Learning how your body works, what to expect, and what your options are is an empowering experience for both you and your partner. Sometimes, labor doesn’t go as smoothly as we hope, so it’s important that both you and your partner aren’t learning about a specific tool from the birth tool box in the middle of an intense contraction. Think of attending birth class as a self-care activity, because it’s not just about the clinical aspect of labor and birth. It’s about learning more about the emotional and mental process, as well.
Empower yourself to have the best birth possible. Take an active role in your birth by being sure that you have all the information available to make informed decisions about your care.
Hello Baby! is 12 hours of hands on, interactive educational time (typically four 3 hour sessions) that will leave you feeling ready and prepared to welcome your baby.
Did we mention that we also simulate contractions for your partner? 😉
